This very special event marks the publication of Alexei Sayle’s funny and fascinating memoir, Thatcher Stole My Trousers. It chronicles Alexei’s arrival in London – as a Marxist art student – and on through his early experiences with the Comedy Store, the Comic Strip, Top of the Pops and beyond.
Alexei will talk about the book, personally, politically and entertainingly, including barely believable tales; pre-Comedy Store, Alexei was variously a clerk in a DHSS office (where nobody did any work), one of London’s bottom ten freelance illustrators, and a school dinner lady. The night features an exclusive onstage interview with Dave Haslam, time for questions from the audience and a book signing. Thatcher Stole My Trousers follows Alexei’s critically acclaimed and hugely entertaining memoir of his childhood, Stalin Ate My Homework.
