Young Cornerhouse filmmakers up for a major national award

A team of 15 young filmmakers from across Greater Manchester and the North West have been selected from hundreds of entrants to be nominated for a prestigious award in the Into Film Festival 2015.

Their film, Fall, which was created in 2013 as part of our second BFI Film Academy, is one of just three to be nominated for the Best Film (13 years old and over) category at this year’s awards, which are designed to recognise and celebrate young people’s involvement in film and education and showcase emerging talent.

The judging panel includes some of the most famous names in British cinema and TV, including directors Sir Alan Parker (Evita, Mississippi Burning), Peter Kosminsky (Wolf Hall, Wuthering Heights), and Edgar Wright (Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz).

Our filmmaking team came from right across the region and the members are Angus Bentham; Bysshe Harkavy; Chloe Crolla-Maas; Georgie Howarth-Evans; Hugh Nelson; Jack Clare; Jack Walter Simmons; Joe Morris; Maggie Stanaszek; Robert Blythe; Samuel Coulduck; Sarah Carroll; Shelby Maddock; Stephanie Cowley and Tremayne Taylor.

The Into Film Awards 2015 take place at a glittering ceremony, to be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson, at the world-famous Empire Cinema, Leicester Square on Tuesday 24 March 2015. Watch this space for news of how our team fare on the big day!
