About the Exhibition:

Home is a precarious notion for cultures in a constant state of motion and displacement. FALE SĀ / SACRED HOUSE asks FAFSWAG artists to create a site for ceremonial transformation, imagining a future HOME for our celestial bodies, sacred objects, ancestral stories and collective gatherings. Fāgogo refers to a traditional storytelling technique from the Samoan Islands.

In FALE SĀ / SACRED HOUSE, FĀGOGO is a digital exhibition where contemporary artists use different styles of storytelling and transmission to weave together a living archive of cultural knowledge and experience. Artists bring their own unique focus to some of the major issues impacting Pacific peoples.

The exhibition brings into question the nature of our relationships to our communities, our environment, and the constantly expanding cosmos, with artists directly accessing ancestral memories to craft collective stories and imagine Indigenous futures.

What to expect from the tour:

Led by experienced describer Anne Hornsby from Mind’s Eye, the Audio Description tour will provide a guided, sensory-rich experience of the exhibition. Anne and the team will offer detailed verbal descriptions of the artworks, textures, and spatial relationships, enhancing the experience for blind and visually impaired visitors. You’ll be transported into the heart of the exhibition, with every sound, shape, and mood conveyed through expert narration.
