Having been a successful writer in 1930s British cinema, Leslie Arliss began working as a director in the following decade. With The Man in Grey, released in 1943, he was able to gather a collection of rising stars - including Margaret Lockwood, James Mason, Phyllis Calvert and Stewart Granger - for this tale of romantic intrigue set amongst the aristocracy.

Produced by Gainsborough Pictures, The Man in Grey’s box-office success meant it became the first in a successful series of melodramas produced by the studio in its wake.

This film will screen with trailers, but no adverts.
