Another of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s films that is clearly indebted to the Hollywood melodramas of Douglas Sirk, Fox and His Friends is a tale of money, emotion and social class.

The plot follows a working-class gay man, played by Fassbinder himself, who wins the lottery and then falls in love with the elegant son of an industrialist. As one might expect in a film inspired by Sirk, all does not go well in what is ultimately an incisive critique of a society built on surface image and financial wealth.

This film will screen with trailers, but no adverts.
