Knowing Me, Knowing You: The True Self in Japanese Cinema

The UK’s largest festival of Japanese cinema, the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme, is back.

This year’s programme explores the question: is it really possible to know our true selves? And if so, would such revelations lead to happiness, or might they instead bring disastrous consequences?

With these dilemmas in mind, the Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme showcases some of the most unmissable Japanese films, past and present, at cinemas across the UK.

Here at HOME, a varied line-up includes a landmark LGBTQ+ drama, high-octane martial arts, tender anime and an exciting new generation of J-horror.
