Cheryl, an aspiring Black lesbian filmmaker working in a video store, is making a documentary about a black actress from the 1930s who was typecast, credited only as “the watermelon woman”.

While uncovering the true story of the actress’ life, Cheryl simultaneously experiences an upheaval of her own.
This special 30th anniversary screening of The Watermelon Woman is presented in partnership with We Are Parable as part of the We Are Here project - a nationwide programme funded by the BFI and The National Lottery to increase access to Black cinema.

This screening will begin at the advertised time with no ads or trailers.
