In a village in Valencia during the post-war period, Ana tries to move forward with her family – but the Civil War has left a deep wound in all of them, especially in her brother-in-law, Antonio.

Ana attempts to heal that wound with stews, secrets and silences, but when Isabel, newly married to Antonio, joins the family, Ana’s care and attention will count for little: sacrifice does not always receive its reward.

The Good Manners is presented as part of Voices of Contemporary Spanish Cinema – a series of events, curated by Santiago Fouz Hernández, showcasing Spanish and Latin American filmmakers in the UK. Presented in partnership with Instituto Cervantes Manchester.
