Brimming with serene beauty, July Rhapsody by Hong Kong director Ann Hui and scriptwriter Ivy Ho is a profound and soothing tale about how one paddles through life’s chaos like the Yangtze river.

On the surface, Lam leads a successful life as a teacher of classic Chinese literature at an elite school and as a family-man with a caring wife and two sons. Deep down, however, the man of forty is pained by unfulfilled ambitions, belittlements from affluent old classmates, and troubling romantic desires.

The sudden return of his old mentor finally wrecks the vulnerable balance Lam has created for himself. In response, Lam must unearth the long-hidden truth about who he is and gain a new perspective on how to live the rest of his life.

This screening will begin at the advertised time with no ads or trailers.
