Wed 10 Dec – Sun 8 Mar

Against the cultural backdrop of six-seven, rage bait and parasocial relationships, the HOME Young Artists focus their creative enquiry towards imprints, both physical and relational.

This exhibition is the second group show by Young People aged 14 – 17 participating in HOME’s Young Artists Studio Programme.

This multi-artwork showcase offers you a snapshot of the group’s creative exploration, both individual and collective over the course of a year, incubated at HOME. Through drawing, sculpture, photography, painting, and printmaking the Young Artists offer the opportunity to look at the world through the eyes of young people.

This exhibition builds upon the Young Artists’ ongoing learning and development of their visual arts practices. This show encases a forming and ever-changing collective identity as membership to the group changes over time and embodies the energy of their studio working style.

One Young Artist says:

“Being a part of the Young Artist Studio has been great to meet other artists and gaining new influences on my art. I liked being able to make absolutely anything I wanted and having something new and outside of school to be proud of.”

Lucy Follon, Creative Engagement Visual Art Practitioner at HOME, says:

“I think it is significant to consider the social and cultural context that the Young Artists are creating work in, young people face a post-covid world, semi-regulated AI and brain-rot culture. In this context I think it’s really interesting that the Young Artists have chosen to investigate how we are shaped through relationship and interaction, and to explore simply what marks we leave behind, materially and in memory."

HOME would like to congratulate the second cohort of HOME Young Artists: Abby, Dael, Dino Kid, Elena, Elliot, Emily, Jack, Joni, Lewis, Lori, Marcia, Max, Olivia, Poppy, Ria, Roman, Ruby, Sal, Scarlett, Siri, and Siya.

This second cohort of Young People participating in HOME’s programme represent: Blackley, Bolton, Chorlton, Clayton, Gorton, Hale, Harpurhey, Moss Side, Oldham, Prestwich, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Stretford, Trafford, Withington, and Wythenshawe.
