From grassroots guerrilla filmmakers to established productions companies, the film community is thriving in our region.

Join us for an evening screening and discover a wide variety of short films from filmmaker based in the region and stay on to chat with them and each other in the bar afterwards.

The entire programme is selected by a panel of audience members from open submissions.

Clocked Off!

In a dreary office overrun by thankless coworkers and tedious tasks, Maggie, a middle-aged woman, ignored and undervalued by her peers, hits her breaking point.
When a last-minute assignment keeps her at her desk well past hours, Maggie discovers her boss has already finished for the day. Fueled by a quiet fury, she embarks on a night of mischief, sabotaging the office in absurdly creative - and petty - ways.


Dog Crease Pattern

This stop-motion animated film uses an original origami dog design and paper shapes to interpret the unique and universal experiences of dog ownership and loss. The narrative and narration come from supporters of the project who lent their stories and voices to the film. The films title and design makes the connection between memory/routine and the patterns creases left on a piece of paper when we unfold an origami model.

The death of Dadi leaves the fate of the farm to one of three dysfunctional siblings. Set in the South Wales Valleys, this Welsh-language dark comedy explores familial tensions as war erupts within.


Beware Out There!

In 1970s England, two teenage friends head to the countryside for an adventure. The Narrator, observing the teenagers, uses their situation to discourage viewers from going to the countryside – exaggerating its dangers.


Trigger warnings: References to suicide, physical abuse, implied sexual abuse, strong language, dealings with dementia, deaths of loved ones and pets. 

 

This work contains flashing images which may affect viewers who are susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
