Event/ This screening will be introduced by Andy Willis, Professor of Film Studies at the University of Salford and Senior Visiting Curator at HOME.

Winner of the Golden Bear at the 1981 Berlin Film Festival, Carlos Saura’s raw, startlingly naturalistic tale of love outside the law reflects the turmoil of a generation navigating the social upheavals of the post-Franco Spanish society.

Angela is working as a waitress when she meets and falls in love with Pablo, a reckless criminal delinquent. Joining Pablo’s gang of criminals, the pair embark on a robbery spree as they refuse to fit into society - and gradually hurtle toward oblivion.

Stylish, straightforward and fast-paced, Deprisa, Deprisa was a significant box-office success on its initial release and a vital contribution to Spain’s Cine Quinqui cycle of films that brought a stream of disillusioned juvenile delinquents to Spanish cinema screens.

This event is part of Cinema Rediscovered on Tour: a Watershed project in collaboration with Park Circus and StudioCanal. With support from BFI awarding funds from The National Lottery.

This event will begin at the advertised time with no adverts or trailers.
