By 2050, rising seas could leave vast areas of Bangladesh permanently submerged, forcing millions to flee inland.

As the population swells and cities like Dhaka strain under the pressure, between 20 and 30 million people may have to confront one of the defining humanitarian crises of our century: climate displacement. On a planetary scale, it could become the largest mass migration in human history.

Through the lens of Bangladesh’s uncertain future, Black Water explores the personal reality behind the projections, asking where people will go when the cities collapse and their homes disappear beneath the water.
