Event/ This screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Don Letts.

On 22 June 1948, HMT Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex. Seventy-seven years later to the day, Grammy Award-winning filmmaker, DJ and radio broadcaster Don Letts presents a previously unreleased documentary that captures an essential moment in modern British history, as experienced by the people that were there.

In Those Days explores the experiences of the first wave of Afro-Caribbean immigrants who arrived in the UK to fill the labour shortage in Britain’s battered post-war economy. Charting their memories of home, their arrival in the UK and the lives they built here, In Those Days is a testament to the Windrush generation – told in their own words.

Join us for a special event presenting In Those Days to audiences for the first time – more than 20 years after it was made – on Windrush Day, Sunday 22 June 2025.
