This series of artwork posters explore the powerful relationship between creativity and care, capturing the ways these forces shape our communities, emotions, and everyday lives.

Designed in collaboration with a group of young artists who meet weekly at The Horsfall, these works challenge us to see creativity not just as an act of expression, but as a form of care - whether for ourselves, others, or the world around us.

When creating these posters the young people were asked: How do we care for creativity? How does creativity inspire care? And what does a world look like when these two forces work together?

Each poster offers a different response to these questions and perspective on care and creativity. From the quiet gestures of kindness that can often go unnoticed, to the bold, transformative power of having a place and a community where you can feel seen, feel listened to, and find ways to express yourself.

Georgina Fox, Senior Practitioner for The Horsfall said: “The posters serve as both a reflection and a call to action - encouraging viewers to embrace creativity as a means of caring for themselves, their communities, and the future.”

The Future is Ours 2025 festival of workshops, talks, events and exhibitions runs Thu 8 May – Thu 22 May. Artworks are exhibited at The Horsfall Gallery, HOME and many more locations across Manchester.

The Future Is Ours is an annual festival which celebrates young people’s creativity, voice and ideas. Young artists are at the forefront of the work, allowing them to say and create what they want in the way they want and, in the process, offers them valuable support with increasingly challenging mental health pressures.

The Horsfall is a Gallery and creative space which is part of 42nd Street, a leading young people’s mental health charity in Manchester. The Horsfall believes in the power of creativity as a way of supporting young people and their wellbeing. For more information visit https://www.42ndstreet.org.uk/about-us/the-horsfall/.

This exhibition is located in our Inspire Gallery on the ground floor.
