Uncle Vanya

Theatre Bable

Theatre Babel is currently one of Scotland’s most exciting companies. Recent award winning successes have brought them international acclaim and invitation to tour across the world. Uncle Vanya is embittered and disillusioned. For years he and his relatives have slaved to support Professor Serebryakov, running his estate while he is absent and receiving little thanks. The Professor and his new young wife Yelena come back to live at their country estate and the long-standing resentments within the household begin to emerge. Babel’s latest project sees the company collaborating with leading Scottish writer Tom Leonard to create a radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. Directed by Graham McLaren, this production promises to be a dynamic and powerful theatre event.
