Teechers

Hull Truck Theatre

Fast-moving and very funny, Teechers takes hard-hitting look at life in a modern comprehensive. There’s the new drama teacher, fresh out of college and brimming with ideas and enthusiasm, the headmistress about to tackle her fifth ‘Mikado’ with a passion for more than just drama; the deputy-head who rules his classes with a road of iron; the gentle humanities teacher, desperate to escape, the self-important caretaker… and not forgetting the kids- including the school bully- dreaded by the kids and staff alike!
Written and directed by John Godber, himself a former drama teacher and writer of the popular TV series Grange Hill, Teechers premiered at the 1987 Edinburgh Festival where it was selected for the Perrier Pick of The Fringe, followed by a successful national tour and a two year run in London’s West End.
