Spanning 500 years of history, Tambo & Bones laughs through our past, blows the roof off our present and imagines an explosive future for our world and for theatre.
Tambo and Bones are stuck in a minstrel show.
It’s hard to know what’s real when you’re stuck in a minstrel show.
Their escape plan: get out, get rich, get even.
In this exhilarating, funny and provocative satire, Tambo & Bones journey from comedy double-act, to hip-hop superstars, to activists in a future America, contending with the alarming repercussions of a nation torn apart by race.
Tambo & Bones was one of the most talked about cultural events of the time when it premiered in Stratford East in 2023. It was also the winner of the 2019 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting and UK Theatre Awards. Now, this whirlwind hip-hop comedy directed by Matthew Xia comes to HOME’s main stage.
Event / Community Night – The Wed 2 Apr performance will be followed by a post-show Q&A and a DJ set. Our Community Night is a welcoming, accessible performance celebrating diversity within the Arts. With Tambo & Bones we will be celebrating rich cultural heritage of the Black community.
