“Have you ever consumed something out of compulsion?
Something out of guilt?
Is the guilt part of why you like it?
Or is that just confusing, because the guilt also makes you sick?
I once ate several battered Mars Bars in succession.
When I was seven I told everyone my best friend was stuck up a tree.
He wasn’t.
Then he was. Fantasy became reality.
This performance is about addiction and the brain.”

Salford University graduate James Monaghan is one half of Sheep Knuckle. His new solo show Forrest is a metaphorical happening incorporating neuroscience with his own personal stories. Through an open and conversational performance style, he explores fantasy, consumption, depression, disassociation, dopamine, excess, curiosity, loss of reality, damaging sexual behaviours and… a cauliflower.
