Forced Entertainment presents

Out of Order

Out of Order says it all without speaking, dysfunctional and disjointed, switching between moments of stillness and chaos. Six clowns have forgotten their routine but are bound to try to do it anyway. Hilarity ensues, chairs scatter and a table topples over. Music, fights and fierce lights. Blank faces, double takes and bright ideas. After a successful run at the Southbank London, the world renowned Forced Entertainment return to HOME in this symphony of explosive disorder, reflecting the messy world we currently live in.

Out Of Order is a Forced Entertainment production. Co-produced by Künstlerhaus Mousonturm supported within the framework of the Alliance of International Production Houses by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media of Germany and Schauspiel Frankfurt, PACT Zollverein Essen, HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin and Gessnerallee Zurich.

“Maybe enough has been said about Brexit and the state of the country that words are no longer a useful ally to express how we feel about the current impasse. Or maybe, just maybe, the rest of the world thinks we’re a bunch of clowns. Forced Entertainment are, but at least they’re funny with it, unlike our politicians.” – The Northern Quota

★★★★ “Whether you see Out of Order as a kaleidoscopic view of the absurdities of our time or simply enjoy it as the riotous extravaganza of physical comedy it is you’ll have a wonderful time all the same.” – North West End

★★★★ “What was most encouraging was the number of young students in the audience on the night that I attended… Many of whom were on their feet to give a standing ovation at the end of the performance… Inspiring and hopeful.” – Upstaged Manchester

“As a company [Forced Entertainment] have become renowned for pushing buttons and in the way they buck the trend of conventional theatre to make shows that are thought provoking… Out Of Order is nothing less than what we’d expect from Forced Entertainment.” – The Grouchy Critic

★★★★ “This vigorously absurdist and very timely performance is impressive… An extraordinary and skilfully orchestrated metaphor and microcosm for a world perpetually on the edge of chaos.” – A Younger Theatre

“An absurd, thought-provoking and funny production which pushes the limits of what theatre can be… A cleverly designed performance about the relationship between chaos and control.” – Mancunion

★★★★ “Forced Entertainment’s deconstructed clowning routine is a challenging absurdist response to troubled times.” –  The Stage

★★★★ “Sweaty, sad and stupidly funny.” – The Guardian

★★★★ “Wry, melancholic… Director Tim Etchells orchestrates the chaos with restrained finesse… Evocatively reflects the alienating absurdity all around us.” –  The Stage

“Poignant chaos.” – Exeunt

Far more than its constituent parts… A largely compelling political allegory… An astute and sophisticated clown show.” – London Theatre1.Com

“Forced Entertainment deal beautifully with the nonsense of life.”  Süddeutscher Zeitung
