It’s therapy you can dance to!
Following last year’s total sell-out tour RuPaul’s Drag Race favourite Jinkx Monsoon and lyrical genius Major Scales return to showcase new music from their upcoming album… however Jinkx worries that her best years are behind her. In order to avoid a breakdown of diva proportions Major must act as both pianist and therapist to the Manic Miss Monsoon. Music and mental health collide in this witty, biting look at the dark side of Drag fame.
Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With twelve years’ experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world’s largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theatres, playing Moritz in Spring Awakening (produced by Balagan Theatre) and Angel in Rent (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre). In 2016, Hoffer played Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group).
Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. He has written everything from award-winning New York shows on the east coast to music for amateur adult films on the west.
★★★★ “The show is very funny… The Ginger Snapped is exactly what claims to be, a mash-up of album tour and shrink session, a comedy cabaret with a twisted underbelly, and a joking exploration of Drag Race fame which can’t help but make some serious observations… The category is multi-talented drag queen supremeness, and Jinkx Monsoon wins.” – Attitude
“The Ginger Snapped is not what you expect from a drag show… The laughs do not stop, there are some very thought-provoking subjects with the whole show giving a very personal insight to the life of a drag race winner… If you have never been to see a drag queen, I strongly suggest you do.” – TotalNtertainment
“To say this is darkly funny would be an understatement of both the darkness and the humour… Rewarded with two well-deserved standing ovations, this is one of the best evenings of live entertainment I’ve seen for a long time. Highly recommended.” – Big Issue North
★★★★ “In true drag style, the fourth wall was more of a revolving door being built, broken and rebuilt as required… A night out that I know I’ll remember for a long time to come… A Ginger Snapped is drag but possibly not quite as you know it.” – LondonTheatre1.Com
