Bryony Kimmings presents

I am falling in love with you and it’s making me do stupid things

Romance, humour, bold

★★★★ ‘Bryony Kimmings’ 15 minute film ‘I am falling in love with you and it’s making me do stupid things’ features another flamboyant unraveling… An audacious show of seduction.’  The Guardian

A HOME Commission

Performance Artist Bryony Kimmings is single in lockdown and it’s smarting somewhat. Follow her through one long, lonely night after she finds the email address of a potential lover in a pile of belongings she has been sorting and decides to make an approach. Stifled creativity and memories of a simpler, freer time collide with white wine and boredom as Kimmings unravels from meet cute cutie to hard-drinking party girl through a range of familiar female stereotypes none of which are getting the desired response.

That familiar sinking feeling of the morning after a messy night before is compounded by no reply from her dream man and the onslaught of Covid anxiety in the cold light of day.

Will he ever message her back?!

Does she care?

★★★★ ‘Freakishly relatable and perfectly fronted, Bryony Kimmings’ I Am Falling In Love With You And It’s Making Me Do Stupid Things is a, somewhat one sided, lockdown love story that reminds us of our common helplessness when it comes to being desperate.’ Theatre Weekly

‘It mixes the mundane, the hilarious and the sinister into a glorious antidote for our current terrifying and dull moment.’ The F-Word

‘The piece distills the mental turbulence of lockdown life in a neat 15 minutes. Time doesn’t so much go fast or slow, but ceases to bear any relevance. One moment, you’re happily chattering away on Zoom and the next you’re scratching at your phone screen in the grip of existential horror.’ The State of the Arts

Ticket Prices

Tickets are available as ‘Pay What You Can’ – the suggested price for this event is £10 – but there are a range of ticket prices so you can choose what you can afford from the options, including £0 as we want as many people as possible to access our Homemakers commissions.

We’ve also included a higher option for anyone who wants to take the opportunity to make a larger donation to our artists and organisations. How much you choose to pay is completely up to you, and every audience member will receive exactly the same content and experience.

All the money raised from ticket sales for this event will be split evenly with 50% going directly to the artist and 50% to HOME’s response fund to allow HOME to continue to support future artists and commissions.

Homemakers Project Overview

Homemakers is a series of new commissions, where we invite our favourite artists to create work at home, for an audience who are also at home.

We’re not pretending that all art can be experienced online just as satisfactorily as in person; but we want to demonstrate the innovation of artists who work all kinds of forms, by inviting them to respond to this very specific context. We want to bring contemporary new performance to audiences all over the world, in all its form-flexing, mind-expanding, surprising subversive brilliance.
