Tickets are selling fast for Desperate To Be Doris, the latest production from LipService, Manchester’s favourite theatrical spoofsters, between Wednesday 23 September – Saturday 3 October. This terrific and hilarious new show all about a wannabe Doris Day singer stars Bolton-born Darren Southworth, direct from the West End production of Spamalot, who plays Dean. By day, Dean is a buyer at a mail-order nightwear firm; by night, he sings like the great Doris Day. But when his local operatic society, Out of My Range, stages Calamity Jane, will he come alive?
Desperate To Be Doris features a specially recruited 50-strong choir who will regale the audience with Doris Day classics such as ‘Que Sera Sera’, ‘The Deadwood Stage’, and ‘Secret Love’. It is sure to be a riot of songs, laughter, not to mention a few tears!
If you usually attend the Library Theatre on your own, why not join our regular Theatre Solos’ event, for Desperate To Be Doris on Friday 2 October? Join us at Brasserie Gérard at 6pm, performance at 8pm. Advance booking essential; more information from the box office.
