Be Rain For Me

re:play 2011 presents

Lifelong friends Leah and Willow are striving to find their place in the world. Stuck working in a fish factory in deepest Salford with only Greasy Gary for company, they embark on a journey of self discovery.

A bereavement in Willow’s family triggers a heartbreaking, tragic chain of events as her father’s deeply buried lies surface and a colossal truth unravels. Packed with humour and pathos, Be Rain For Me boldly challenges preconceptions of domestic abuse.

Be Rain For Me is writer Susi’s Wrenshaw’s first full-length play and has received much recognition, culminating in the Arts Council England awarding funding for the project. Developed through the Royal Exchange Theatre Writers Group and Contact Theatre’s Scriptworks, the show premiered at Salford Arts Theatre. Be Rain For Me was staged independently by Halden Theatre in Nottingham and was selected by Contact Theatre’s Scriptworks for their Shortworks production. The play was also short-listed for Manchester Library Theatre’s First Stage competition. Extracts of Be Rain For Me have been performed live on radio for BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Lancashire, ALL FM and Salford City Radio.
