Daniel Bye

Daniel is a theatre maker from Middlesbrough, now based in Lancaster. Touring work as a writer-performer includes Instructions for Border Crossing; Going Viral, which won a Scotsman Fringe First at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe; and his show for young audiences Error 404, which was commissioned and originally produced by Polka Theatre. Arthur, made with One Tenth Human, also won a Fringe First, at the Edinburgh Festival 2019.

Other touring work includes The Price of Everything, which has been performed over 120 times in the UK and internationally, These Hills Are Ours (created and performed with Boff Whalley of Chumbawamba) and the award-winning How to Occupy an Oil Rig. 

Recent work as a director includes 666 Comments (Aliki Chapple/Hear Me Roar), Tensile Strength (Holly Gallagher), I Was Naked, Smelling of Rain (Aidan Moesby) and The Astonishing Vacuum Cleaner Adventure (One Tenth Human/Dukes Theatre). Earlier directing includes work for Theatre 503, Silver Tongue Theatre and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

As a writer/director, work includes Full of Noises for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Beauty and the Beast for the Dukes and Robin Hood for The Egg
