An explosion of loud, electric, folk-rock, False Lights is a collaboration between multi-award winning singers and guitarists Jim Moray and Sam Carter.  This is a gleefully raucous guitar band that plays traditional songs and tunes, formed in the spirit of the genre’s late-‘60s originators but informed by the music of Sam and Jim’s far more recent youth.

After a triumphant first run in 2016, Manchester’s TV Festival returns for Season 2. Pilot Light TV Festival is dedicated to celebrating the past, present and future of TV and web series.

Light Years is a poetic and startling story of loss, hope and the deepest of human connections. One hot summer’s day, Rose longs to see her mum but nobody will take her. Her father who is struggling to cope disappears to work, her sister waits to meet a boy on the local golf course and her brother is preoccupied online. Taking destiny into her own hands, Rose sets off alone deep into England’s forgotten edge lands to reach her mother.

While TV is a major part of pop culture, it’s typically watched alone. Pilot Light turns that idea on its head with a totally new, communal TV experience. This four-day event features exclusive screenings and Q&A panels based around the best past, present and future TV and web TV series.

Jeremy Finch has long been a musical star, touring the country in lead roles and doing a full year in the West End in The Producers, including the principle role of Leo Bloom. This seminar for AND Festival tells the story of how he found his light – both metaphorically and literally – in the strange new world of the English National Opera. Recruited as understudy for tenor Toby Spence, he was told he would never have to actually go on. Extraordinary circumstances meant that he did. This inspiring seminar will allow the audience to join Jeremy on his exciting ride, giving them the impetus to take up new opportunities and challenging them to embrace uncertainty. The audience participate through singing – and those who ‘can’t sing’ find they can – using Jeremy’s daring principles for stepping into the unknown and finding their light.

Relaxed events at HOME are for anyone who would welcome watching a film or seeing a theatre performance in a more relaxed environment. They have been designed to be friendlier to people with autism spectrum conditions and their families, however they may also be suitable for people with sensory disorders or learning difficulties. We aim to make the events as inclusive as possible so they are open to all, even if you don’t need the adjustments we make for relaxed performances and screenings.
