Deadline: Mon 13 Jan, 5pm
This opportunity is aimed at Northern-based artists and companies from refugee backgrounds.
Horizons Festival celebrates international arts and global culture and runs alongside Refugee Week. The festival features a week long programme of theatre, film, art, performance, workshops and debate showcasing the artistic talent of refugees and migrants.
The festival takes place at HOME, Manchester and is co-produced with Community Arts North West (CAN). The third Horizons Festival will take place between 13th and 20th June 2020.
We would like to hear from Northern-based artists and companies from refugee backgrounds who might like to perform or share creative work at the festival. Collaborating artists may be from from other backgrounds, as long as the work is refugee-led.
We are interested in hearing about projects that are ready to book and those in development. We are also interested in hearing about projects which have funding that may be looking for partnership support in terms of venue or talent development.
To submit: Please send a brief statement about your project outlining your practice and how you might like to be involved with the festival. Please include costings and any funding or partnerships you have in place. Please include links or examples of your work if you have them.
Please send submissions to: anne.kershaw@homemcr.org and katherine@can.uk.com
Please note: Unfortunately we may not be able to respond to every expression of interest. We will contact you by the end of January if we would like to explore your idea further.
Additional information:
Each year Horizons Festival supports a national campaign. For 2020- we will be highlighting issues around Destitution and the Home Office’s Hostile Environment policy. Artists may wish to respond to this theme. However CAN and HOME are interested in a diverse range of work and different sources of artistic inspirations.
