Theatre Careers Day for young people aged 14-16

Have you ever wondered about working in Theatre? What interesting and exciting jobs exist in theatre? What does it take? How do I find out about them? and where do I even start?

If you are aged 14 – 16 and interested to find out all of this and more, join us at Theatre Careers Day on Tuesday 25th October 2022 11am – 4pm.

HOME’s Creative Careers workshops are free to attend and no previous experience is required.

Across the day you will:

  • Discover Creative Careers in Theatre.

Learn about a variety of jobs and careers in everything from Acting, Lighting, Production, Stage Management, Wardrobe, Set Design, Technical Production, Sound, Writing, Directing, Script writing and more.

  • Learn practical on-stage and off-stage skills.

Enjoy a practical workshop with other like-minded creative young people where you can try out a taster of a variety of theatre roles and see which you like best.

  • Meet Industry Professionals and Careers Advisors.

Chat to Theatre practitioners, Producers, and Technicians about their career journey and how they got to where they are. Gain useful and inspiring hints, tips and honest reflections about their experiences.

  • Explore your options and local routes into industry.

Learn about local opportunities to get into theatre from college courses, theatre programmes, Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Freelance work and being your own boss.

Led by HOME’s Creative Development Theatre Practitioner Kris Overend, the director behind HOME’s Young Company and ‘The Lost World.’ Kris also set up Stockport-Based Theatre company; Little Fin Productions, and has produced for theatres across the North-West.

Theatre Career’s Day runs as part of HOME’s Creative Careers Week during Manchester October Half Term 2022.
