UK Premiere/ Sin muertos no hay carnaval

Directed by Sebastián Cordero

A thriller set in Guayaquil – Ecuador’s largest city and main port – a metropolis which exudes corruption and violence. Everything begins with a stray bullet, and a wealthy young man trying to evict 250 families who are squatting on the land he inherited from his father. The leader of the squatter settlement is ready to negotiate, even knowing that an eviction will not happen without blood. In his sixth feature film, Cordero portrays the city of Guayaquil through all its social strata, and the rot goes all the way to the top echelons of the local elite. But ultimately no one is protected in this dog eat dog society.
