Director Lone Scherfig (An Education) returns with an adaptation of Lissa Evans’ novel Their Finest Hour and a Half. During WWII, a talented female scriptwriter (Gemma Arterton) gets a low-paid job writing the women’s dialogue, otherwise known as ‘slop’, for the Ministry of Information’s morale-boosting propaganda films, but comes into her own when she earns the respect of her pompous co-worker (Sam Claflin) and the difficult lead actor (Bill Nighy).
