The Greasy Strangler

Directed by Jim Hosking

This Los Angeles-set tale follows Ronnie, a man who runs a Disco Walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When an alluring woman comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also signals the appearance of an oily, slimy inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night. This is Steptoe and Son via John Waters. Filthy and degenerate, it evokes exploitation cinema of the 1970s and is as original and funny as hell.

Quote from Ben Wheatley*

“Come and see the movie that’s been appalling film festival audiences for months. This film has so much going for it – most grease on screen, most mouse-like penis in a film, best dancing, best acting, it’s fantastically stylish, heartwarming and very funny. It’s certainly a date movie. Your Nan will love it.”

Ben Wheatley is an executive producer on this film so probably shouldn’t be trusted.
