The Girl from Paris

Directed by Christian Carion

This charming and ultimately touching drama was a sleeper hit in France last year. A young Parisian (Seigner) turns her back on her boring I.T. career to pursue the dream of her youth – to become a farmer. Following an intensive training course, she purchases a remote, rundown holding, complete with the cranky old widower farmer (Serrault) in residence for a year. Contrasting city and country, traditional and modern, the film offers a realistic picture of the hardships of farming, set against a glorious backdrop of rural France.
