Camille is a 9 year old boy living in upper middle class splendour in Paris. One day, the boy begins to behave strangely. He formally addresses his mother (Huppert) by her first name, and claims that his name is not Camille but Paul, and that his real mother is in fact a flighty violin teacher (Balibar) living in another part of Paris. Soon the three are sharing a house, with the strange atmosphere recorded by Camille/Paul on his omnipresent video camera. Does the boy belong to a different life or is he psychologically disturbed?
