Ten years after he made The Blue Kite, director Tian returns to the screen with a homage to director Fei Mu who made the first version of this film in 1948. After a long, harsh winter, springtime is welcomed by the Dai family who live in a small town in post-war Southern China, 1946. The warm, seasonal breezes stir up emotions further agitated by the arrival of a stranger, testing the limits of love, commitment, lust and sacrifice.
