The second of Cornerhouse’s new bimonthly experimental screening events, Somewhere Else is programme of short film works that compliment the British Art Show 6 by focusing on the experience of dislocation, landscape and urbanism. From overtly political to deeply personal responses to conflict, the programme goes on to explore the condition of constant transit and how artists redefine the city and form a sense of place.
Featuring award winners from the Halloween Short Film Festival including Max Hattler, Jes Benstock, Nick Jordan and Stefanie Brockhaus, emerging talent Andy Sidorzcuk, and classic animation from Ruth Lingford. Plus Manchester premieres of work by Jonathan Hodgson, Rosie Pedlow and Sarah Miles and a 35mm screening of Optical Sound by Mika Taanila.
Techniques include animation/live action hybrids and stunning Super8 cinematography. Expect to leave the cinema seeing the city anew!
