In the depths of her mind, pain takes the form of a creature. A love relationship unleashes the darkness within, to invoke a world of shadows in the real world. Winner of the Pardino d’oro for the Best Auteur Short at the Locarno Film Festival, Criatura is a sensorial experience, a journey towards what hurts. It is a glimpse into the demons, for so many years silenced, that today are pushing themselves to the surface.
Argentine director and film editor María Silvia Esteve has been awarded by the Spanish Association of Authors of Cinematography, Docaviv, the Havana Festival, and DocLisboa, among others. Based on this short, Criatura, she is currently writing her first fiction feature, Fauces, winner of the Focus COPRO’ 2022 – Festival de Cannes.
