Scratch ‘n Sniff Cinema presents The Wicker Man: The Final Cut

Directed by Robin Hardy

This screening has now SOLD OUT.

One of the great British horror films and a genuine cult classic, The Wicker Man successfully blends folklore with post-60s psychedelia, as Edward Woodward’s police officer investigates the disappearance of a young girl on a remote island. However, the locals claim she never existed. As he probes deeper into village life, he suspects something darker to be at work.

Following a prior appearance at Cornerhouse with a scent-imbued screening of The Goonies (think bubble gum, mint choc-chip ice-cream and cheesy pizza topping), Scratch ‘n Sniff Cinema return to augment this seminal Scottish horror. Audience members will receive a scratch card overlaid with 10 encapsulated odours, and will be prompted at key scenes throughout the film to break the gel coating and inhale the associated aroma. This story of a policeman (Edward Woodward) who visits a remote island populated by Pagan acolytes and naked villagers contains plenty of opportunities for response, from whisky-sozzled pub patrons, fishy goings-on and the local chocolate shop… as for the infamous finale, shhh! Wait and sniff!
