Sammy Going South

Directed by Alexander Mackendrick

After his parents are killed in an air raid, 10 year old Sammy travels through Africa from Port Said on his way to Durban in search of his Aunt Jane. As he hitch-hikes his way through the stunning landscapes of Africa, Sammy becomes firm friends with a diamond smuggler and with the help of his toy compass, Sammy’s journey unfolds as a series of mini adventures and encounters that are tinged with danger. All this is seen through Sammy’s eyes in a film which will appeal to all the family.

Programmed in association with the Family Friendly Film Festival. The Sun 1 August screening will be introduced by actor Fergus McClelland.
