Rust and Bone

Directed by Jacques Audiard

Boasting an excellent performance from Marion Cotillard and from the BAFTA award-winning director of A Prophet (Jacques Audiard), Rust and Bone was one of the most anticipated films of this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

This tender and assured melodrama tells the tale of two very different people coming to terms with dramatic life changes. Ali has always been a distant father, but when he must take care of his five-year-old son alone for the first time, he struggles with the responsibility. Homeless, penniless and friendless he moves from northern France to Antibes to take refuge with his sister. There Ali encounters Stephanie, a beautiful and talented animal trainer who dismisses his advances. But when Stephanie is the victim of a terrible accident, Ali and Stephanie are reunited and his no-nonsense approach is life-changing.
