Quills

Directed by Philip Kaufman

Director Kaufman has made a career of depicting society’s creative outsiders (HENRY AND JUNE, THE RIGHT STUFF, etc). His subject in QUILLS is the Marquis de Sade (Rush) imprisoned in the asylum yet still smuggling out his provocative writings and causing mayhem amongst the inmates. QUILLS explores the creative process, the limits placed upon it, and the implications of true freedom of expression. Nominated for 3 Oscars, including Best Actor (Rush).
