A homicide detective’s (Clarkson) investigation into the shooting of a leading astrophysicist and black-hole expert destabilises her view of the universe and herself, in Carol Morley’s (The Falling) fascinating adaptation of Martin Amis’ Night Train. Originally a project to be directed by Nicolas Roeg, the film has something of his sensibility and its very own Clint Mansell score.
