Betty, a small town waitress with a good heart and a bad marriage, lives for her favourite medical soap opera and its dreamy lead character. When she witnesses a violent murder, she retreats to the dream world of her beloved TV series and becomes “Nurse Betty”. Searching for her imaginary ex-fiancé Dr Ravell, and trailed by two hitmen, her local sheriff and town reporter, she takes a journey across country to Los Angeles where life begins to imitate art…and vice versa.
