Nowhere to Hide

Directed by Lee Myung-se

NOWHERE TO HIDE takes the action thriller genre beloved of both eastern and western film cultures and gives it a stylish and inventive formal makeover. Veteran detective Woo is one of those loner cops who can’t interact with anything but his casebook. His dedication to the job leads him to occasionally overlook professional codes of behaviour. His younger partner Kim is dedicated to his wife and family. The pair are assigned to find a murderous gang of robbers, and the process is a long, dangerous one. Generic pleasures are enhanced by the director’s bold treatment of both action set-pieces and quieter moments, with refreshing choreography, imaginative camerawork and editing.
