The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey

Directed by Vincent Ward

In Vincent Ward’s 1988 film a group of fourteenth-century villagers escaping the Black Death reach the present-day Antipodes through a tunnel. This surreal time-travelling premise is not used for comedy, as in 1993’s Les Visiteurs, but to visionary ends, as the postmodern city is seen through entirely different eyes.
