MSA Productions is proud to present PAUSE, a celebration of the best films from final year filmmaking students at Manchester Metropolitan University. With two screenings and a wide variety of genres and stories on offer, there’s bound to be something that you will enjoy!

Eggman – Dir. Connor Whelan, 11:23 mins
Ollie finds himself in Manchester on the run. No money, nowhere to stay and no hope. To add insult to injury his camera is stolen by Layla a squatter in a desperate situation. Dipping his toe in the underbelly Ollie undergoes a transformation. Aided by Blake, a good heart but a bad influence. Ollie finds fleeting peace but his world is not what it seems and the realities of his situation soon come

Working Man – Dir. Dominic Old, 10:45 mins
A distraught woman seeks refuge in a working men’s club after crashing her car. As she begins to confide in the young man who works there, her arrival becomes more than just coincidence.

Crawl – Dir. Julia Lezzi, 8:22 mins
Crawl will have you on the edge of your seat and make you think twice about taking a swim again. Will Sophia escape to freedom, or will Jason have the upper hand? Whistles, creaks and echoes are not all you will be afraid of in this epic horror.

The White Clinic – Dir. Chloe Tishler, 10:59 mins
In a world where you must wear a colour that reflects your sexuality, Heather and Grace go undercover to enjoy luxuries reserved for ‘pro-creating’ members of society. This carries the risk of being enrolled into The White Clinic.

Help Kneaded, Guys – Dir. Josh Butterworth, 12:12 mins
At twenty-two, Luke finds himself delivering pizzas in order to scrape enough money together to keep a roof above his head.. Put in an unfair situation, Luke takes violent and aggressive action in order to get what he has been denied his whole life; freedom, even if it is only for one night.

Nice To See You – Dir. Lucy Adam, 9:15mins
This Animation revolves around Adventurers Alan and Wizdoom. They travel through the magic filled outer space running into mean people at every turn, however the planet they are looking for has a surprise in stall for them.

The End – Dir. Ronan Mackenzie, 11:00 mins
After a teenage girl survives a global cataclysm caused by an unknown force, the sudden appearance of an angel sparks hope in a potential future for the young girl.

A Partially Czech – Dir. Tom Mellors, 10:10 mins
Its Gustav’s 21st birthday, he’s spend the whole of his life angry and bored but thats all about to change. He steals his dads wallet and leaves his past life behind.

Near Wild Heaven – Dir. Dan Thorburn, 11:13 mins
16-year-old Aubrey tracks down her estranged father and travels north to scatter her mother’s ashes whilst battling with her constantly declining health.
