Morocco

Directed by Josef von Sternberg

Sternberg and Dietrich’s first Hollywood film together, MOROCCO finds Dietrich’s cabaret star escaping her past on the first ticket out to Morocco where she encounters a hunky Legionnaire (Cooper). Their slow dance to romance burns up the screen. This is the film that features the tuxedoed Dietrich’s kiss with a female audience member, plus perhaps some of Sternberg’s finest and most fetishistic visual explorations of his charismatic star.
