Manchester Film Festival/ Bernard and Huey

Directed by Dan Mirvish

The Manchester Film Festival is back in 2018 bigger and better than ever with first class independent filmmaking talent from around the world bringing their world and UK premieres to Manchester from 1 – 4 Mar 2018.

Based on characters that go back to Jules Feiffer’s cartoon strips in the Village Voice and Playboy from 1957, Bernard and Huey tells the story of Bernard, a successful bachelor in New York and his long-lost friend Huey, who arrives on Bernard’s doorstep looking old and washed up. As the two reconnect, Bernard starts a relationship with Huey’s estranged daughter Zelda, which in turn questions Bernard’s own belief in his aging romantic prowess. An ‘Allen-esque’ tale of twentieth century friendship.

Screening as a trailblazer for Manchester Film Festival which runs from 1 – 4 March 2018.
