Acclaimed Czech animator Svankmajer returns with another twisted tale that combines live action with his special brand of animation. A barren couple long for a baby, until one day they discover a tree-stump that resembles a small child and slowly bring it to life through love and longing. But Little Otik is always hungry and soon begins to sate his hunger on a local, cannibalistic level. His parents are horrified, but the neighbour’s daughter wants to protect him from the death that is his fate. Bizarre myth-making as only Svankmajer can create.
