Listen to Britain: War Records

To illuminate Cornerhouse’s current Victor Burgin exhibition, a programme of documentaries from the National Film and Television Archive. Using poetic images and sound, they explore the effect of WWII upon rural Britain, depicting the pastoral and changing landscape. Includes 2 by Humphrey Jennings, LISTEN TO BRITAIN and SPRING OFFENSIVE, Richard Massingham’s eccentric WHAT A LIFE, and Michael Powell’s moving, John Gielgud-narrated AN AIRMAN’S LETTER TO HIS MOTHER.
