L’Intrus

Directed by Claire Denis

Louis (Michel Subor) is a rugged 68-year-old recluse who lives in the Swiss wilderness with his dogs protecting his cabin from a range of shady intruders until a heart attack forces him to travel to Korea to have a black-market transplant. He buys a boat and sails to an island near Tahiti to find a son he abandoned years before but his personal odyssey is threatened when his body begins to reject his newly purchased heart. One of Denis’ most mysterious films, L’Intrus is an enigmatic puzzle of memory and imagination that is a rewarding challenge to watch. A haunting, poetic meditation on life, death and identity.
